Designed by Arthur Hills and opened just five years ago, the Thoroughbred has already gained a reputation as one of Michigan's most popular resort destinations. The resort, known as one of the Midwest's most notable dude ranches offers a unique combination of golf and horse play. The traffic signs here give horses right of way over golf carts and golfers.
The 6900 yard course is spread over 300 acres of sand dunes, cranberry bogs, mature hardwoods and pine forests, orchards and ravines. The signature par-5 finishing hole wraps around Carpenter Lake, after a tee shot that enables the golfer to chew off as much or as little as his/her appetite allows. Golf Digest rated the Thoroughbred with 4 1/2 stars in its 1998 "Places to Pay".
