Although Wisp is a resort mountain course situated at the base of ski slopes, the terraced design minimizes steep hills on the course. Narrow, tree lined fairways require knowledge of the course, but reward accuracy off the tee. Five water hazards, the stone fountain on the 18th hole, and more than 90 grass and sand bunkers will persuade you to try to keep the ball in play.
There are a mix of distinctively different holes that allow for average golfers to card a few pars and other holes where players would be happy with a bogey. Greens are spacious and fairways are well defined with a mix of blue grass, annual blue grass and rye.
Golf Digest ranked the Wisp in the top ten public courses in the state of Maryland.
